Overload Relay

There are Overload Relay device that protects an electric motor against overloads and phase failure. It senses overloading of motor and interrupts the power flow to the motor, thus protecting it from overheating and winding damages. The relays include bimetallic elements or bimetallic strips, also referred to as heater elements. The Relay is a device that is supposed to operate under certain condition and if it operates under overloading conditions it is known as overload relay in electrical terminology. If the current exceeds the heat that is generated bends the bimetal strip due to the difference in expansion. Due to this bending, an actuating/trip lever gets operated and generates a trip command to the motor, thus protecting it. Overload Relay is available for industrial uses.
